Work has begun on an 84ha tourist development containing two artificial peninsulas and an island off the coast of Batumi, the second city of Georgia.
The $100m Ambassadori Island scheme will be presented at Dubai’s International Property Show. When complete, it will have a 9ha forest park, 3.2km of walking trails, five-star hotels, villas and residencies. There will also be heliports, sports areas and a yacht club.
Gocha Kamkia, Ambassadori Island Batumi’s chief executive, said: “Our ambition is to create a destination that reflects the forward-looking spirit of Georgia – one that is open, innovative and deeply connected to its environment.”

UK consulting engineer Arup has been appointed to work on the design of the buildings and the planning of the overall scheme.
Previous attempts to get the project signed off by authorities ran foul of concerns about its impact on shipping.
There has been a 20% rise in tourism in the Batumi area year-on-year. In 2024, foreign investment in Georgian real estate rose by 40%, helped by the introduction of direct flights to Dubai. About $40m of the investment in the project came from outside Georgia.
