Seymour Whyte, the Australian subsidiary of French contractor Vinci, has won two road contracts worth a total of US$230m in Sydney and Melbourne.
The first, awarded by Transport for New South Wales, involves the widening of a 3.8km section of Mamre Road, a busy highway near the future international airport in the west of the city.
This project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
The company described the scheme as “a critical component of the Western Sydney Priority Growth Area initiative”.
The second project will extend and renovate 1.2km of Clyde Road, a dual carriageway in the Berwick suburb of east Melbourne.
Due to finish in 2027, the project will add lanes, widen a bridge, upgrade an intersection and renew lighting, signage, drainage and landscaping.
Seymour Whyte’s chief operating officer Steve Lambert said the upgrade would integrate “innovative sustainable technologies, including the trial of hydrogen power”.
