Vinci celebrates opening of 93km Coastal Road in Côte d’Ivoire

The project strengthens the link between the country’s two main port cities, Abidjian and San Pedro (Vinci Construction)
Vinci Construction is celebrating the opening of a restored 93km stretch of Côte d’Ivoire’s Coastal Road between Dabou and Grand Lahou.

It strengthens the link between the country’s two main port cities, Abidjian and San Pedro.

Vinci won the €97m contract from Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Equipment and Road Maintenance in May 2022, through its subsidiary Sogea-Satom.

The project involved widening the road over a 10km section near Dabou, and improving drainage systems to reduce flooding.

Wells drilled for the project were to be connected to the public water system of the town of Toupah.

Vinci said the project team also built a six-room school in Adiopodoune, and public toilets in Songon subprefecture.

The project employed around 450 people, targeting 50% locals.

It’s the latest of numerous projects for Sogea-Satom in Côte d’Ivoire.
