Vinci Highways has agreed to buy NWP HoldCo, the company holding the concession for Denver’s tolled Northwest Parkway, a 14-km section of the city’s ring road.
NWP HoldCo is currently owned by funds managed by DIF Capital Partners and funds managed by Northleaf Capital Partners and HICL Infrastructure.
There are 83 years left in the concession contract.
Vinci said it was the longest remaining term on a highway concession in the US today.
Financial close is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024, following approval by the Northwest Parkway Public Highway Authority.
Serving one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the US, the highway has been open since 2003 and is a gateway to Denver’s international airport.
It generated 7.2 million transactions in 2023, up 6% compared to 2022 and 17% compared to 2021, Vinci said.
It’s an electronic toll road, giving Vinci flexibility to vary tolls.
Vinci Highways also operates, as part of a public-private partnership (availability payment), the Ohio River Bridges project, linking the states of Indiana and Kentucky, as well as free-flow toll service contracts – through its ViaPlus subsidiary – for governmental agencies in Texas and California.
