Liam Fox, the UK’s International Trade Secretary, yesterday announced a loan of £27.9m to the Gulf state of Bahrain for a waste water project to be carried out there by a British firm.
Specialist Bluewater Bio will undertake the work, valued at £28.6m, for Bahrain Ministry of Works to increase provision of clean water in the Tubli Bay area of the country.
The loan is being made through UK Export Finance.
"Bluewater Bio is an innovative, company and the continuing demand for its market-leading capabilities shows the value placed on British expertise in the water and wastewater sector across the globe," Fox said.
"It also shows how UK Export Finance’s support ensures innovative businesses like Bluewater can take full advantage of international opportunities as we develop relationships as an independent trading nation."
