Portugal’s Ooda Architecture has unveiled its design for the mixed-use Bound Tower project: two linked structures that will add a distinctive silhouette to the skyline of Albania’s capital, Tirana.
The design is reminiscent of a ballet dancer’s plié, where they bend their knees while their feet remain flat on the floor. Another allusion is to Austrian painter Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, which depicts an intertwined couple at separate heights.
The building’s parametric façades mimics the traditional fabric patterns of Albanian carpets, and contains vegetation found in Tirana’s surrounding mountains.
Ooda Architecture said in a statement: “More than just a building, Bound is a dance of connection and harmony, a gateway to new urban experiences, emerging as a living structure that embodies cultural heritage and urban transformation.”
The project, which is on Dritan Hoxha Avenue in the west of the city, will contain 55,000 sq m of residential, commercial and hotel space.
