Strabag, Austria’s largest contractor, has won an €80m deal to build part of a mixed-used project in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
It will build a 40m-high office building for the Emonika district in the city’s centre. As well as this scheme, it the new quarter will contain three residential blocks with 187 apartments and 600 basement parking spaces, a shopping mall and two hotels.

Alfred Watzl, a Strabag board member, said: “We look forward to further cooperation in the creation of one of the largest and most important construction projects in Ljubljana. It is another opportunity for us to demonstrate our expertise in sustainable construction.
“We are convinced that, together with the investor, we can ensure that Emonika will be a true example of sustainable and high-quality construction for future generations.”
The quarter is named after the Roman city of Emona, the ancestor of modern Ljubljana. It is due to be completed in 2028.
