Canada’s SNC-Lavalin has won a design and engineering contract to replace the Shepard Broad Causeway bridge in south Florida, which crosses the Intracoastal Waterway.
SNC-Lavalin will serve as the prime consultant on the multi-year project, providing feasibility and environmental studies, concept planning, full design packages and construction engineering and inspection services.
The company will use digital twin 3D modelling on the project.
The new bridge will increase hurricane evacuation capability and reduce congestion.
The Shepard Broad Causeway bridge carries drivers between the beaches and mainland Miami-Dade County.
