Swedish contractor Skanska has won two deals worth a total of $198m: a STEM building for Texas State University and renovation work for the Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital Tower in Kentucky.
In Texas, Skanska will build an eight storey, 14,500 sq m building hosting the university’s departments of mathematics and computer science at the San Marcos campus. The structure will contain teaching space, laboratories and offices
Work on the $100m project began in June and is expected to be completed by May 2026.
In Paducah, southwest Kentucky, Skanska has signed a $98m contract with Bon Secours Mercy Health to renovate the hospital tower.
Work on the project includes the refurbishment of two floors and the installation of windows, accessibility features, heating and cooling systems and a 975 sq m plant room.
Construction is due to begin October 2023 and is expected to reach completion in the second quarter 2026.
