Skanska to build Texas university’s meat sciences centre

Swedish contractor Skanska has won a $91m contract to build a 7,000 sq m meat science and technology centre at Texas A&M University.

The facility will be located at the College Station campus and will contain an auditorium, laboratories, classrooms, seminar spaces and processing capabilities, as well as offices for graduate students and faculty.

Texas A&M university runs a meat science programme that teaches courses on meat selection and grading, merchandising, processing and food safety.

Construction is due to begin in December 2025 and be completed by January 2028.
