Skanska has announced the substantial completion of the $19.8m Essex Road Bridge replacement project in San Bernardino County, California for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Starting in May 2023, the contractor replaced the westbound and eastbound bridges on Interstate 40 over Halfway Hills Wash.

It had to demolish the existing bridges and build two new seven-span bridges, with drainage improvements.

The new bridges will improved road safety, said Kyle Reiter, project manager for Skanska’s West Coast civils operations.
