A temporary stadium for 80,000 people will be built in Munich for 10 concerts by British singer Adele next month, the StadiumDB website reports

She is performing the concerts throughout the month, and some 740,000 people are expected to attend.

According to Marek Lieberberg, managing director of promoter Live Nation, 95% of the tickets for the events have already been sold.

The concerts will be given in an area laid with 7.5ha of aspalt in Munich’s Trade Fair City area.

There will be a 4,000-sq-m “pop-up stadium” with a 93m-long catwalk between the main stage and a smaller stage in the centre of the standing audience.

The concert will also be shown on a 220m-wide, 30m-high LED screen, which is expected to cost €40m.

As well as the stadium, there will be a surrounding exhibition area called “Adele World”, designed with input from the artist.

Guests will be able to enjoy her favourite drink (which is presently a secret) in a “pub” that will create “an authentic British atmosphere, mirroring the pub where Adele signed her first record contract”.

This will double as rain shelters if the weather declines to cooperate.

The cost of the concerts is thought to be in the hundreds of millions, although a precise estimate has not been given.

The events are expected to generate more than €500m in revenue for the city.
