UNStudio reveals designs for green campus in Saint Petersburg

Dutch architect UNStudio has designed a Saint Petersburg office campus for software development company JetBrains, which is says will promote "total interaction".

The project will extend the firm’s current Saint Petersburg workspace into a campus that will become its 10th office, joining others located across Europe, the US and Russia.

UNStudio describes the 38,000 sq m development as a space for "true connectivity and openness" where 1,000 JetBrain employees can collaborate in open-plan workspaces while taking in views of the Gulf of Finland.

A five-storey zigzagging glazed facade will span a central atrium, which connects indoor space to an outdoor courtyard and outdoor terraces.

Ben van Berkel, UNStudio’s founder, said: "JetBrains is a highly innovative company. It is ambitious, possesses a deep understanding of its workforce and has a very contemporary approach to the future of work.

"This meant that we were able to bring everything that we have learned from designing contemporary work spaces to this design and could create a warm, green, transparent, open and inviting office that stimulates total interaction."
