Strabag to finish tower in Krakow left since 1979

Austrian construction group Strabag will turn a high-rise in Krakow that has been standing unfinished since 1979 into the Polish city’s tallest tower.

The 102.5-m Unity Tower will be part of a new five-building business centre in the middle of the city, and will feature a viewing platform called the Unity Eye.

Four additional buildings will be constructed to nine storeys in height to complete the Unity Centre.

Strabag said the design was produced with the latest digital modeling technology. It said "the construction design was prepared in 4D: The 3D model was expanded through the addition of a temporal component so that the progress of construction could be simulated in the model at any time".

The contract awarded by investor Treimorfa Project SP, worth €89m, is scheduled for completion in mid-2021.
