The US subsidiary of Italian contractor Salini Impregilo has won a $130m contract to construct a section of highway in Florida.
The Lane Construction Corporation will build part of Suncoast Parkway 2, a highway leading north of Tampa. This will be a four-lane, limited access toll-road extending north for 21km from the existing Suncoast Parkway (pictured).
Lane Construction will build the second of two sections in Hernando and Citrus counties, west Florida.
The project aims to reduce commuting times and increase sustainability by contributing to the reduction of emissions along the existing road network between the Citrus County and the Tampa Bay regions.
Construction is due to begin in early 2018 and be completed in 2020.
Salini Impregilo and Lane Construction are currently working on Florida’s largest infrastructure project the I-4 Ultimate development.
