Silicon Valley-headquartered prefab builder Katerra has been selected by a developer in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India to design and manufacture a 10-storey office block in the city.
Vaishnavi Tech Square, commissioned by developer Vaishnavi Group, will have 48,400 sq m of floor area and be built within a year, said Katerra.
Vaishnavi Group earlier commissioned Katerra to design and manufacture towers for its residential scheme, Vaishnavi Serene, also in Bengaluru.
Components for Tech Square, to be erected at Iballur Village in Bengaluru South Taluk, will be made at Katerra’s offsite manufacturing facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
Katerra’s Nejeeb Khan, head of design and business strategy in India, said his company hoped to build more offices and tech parks as foreign companies set up in the country.
He said "technology-driven offsite manufacturing will help in catering to this demand within a shorter timeline".

Vaishnavi Group MD Mr. CN Govindaraju said: "We at Vaishnavi Group strongly believe that new-age global design-driven precast construction technology is the future for developers like us."
Backed by Soft Bank’s Vision Fund, Katerra has expanded rapidly since it was formed 2015. It claims to have 7,500 employees, six operational factories and more than 700 projects in progress in the US, India and the Middle East.
