Parsons consortium awarded $1.2bn Montreal Interchange contract

The Quebec Ministry of Transportation (MTQ) has awarded Parsons Canada and Construction Kiewit a US$1.2bn contract to replace the Turcot Interchange in Montreal. 

WSP Canada and Holcim Canada are also part of the KPH Turcot consortium. 

The current interchange will be replaced with another that is lower to the ground, in order to improve access for traffic. Some 32ha of green space will be created, along with 6.7km of cycle lanes.  

Sébastien Marcoux, KPH Turcot’s deputy project director, said: "We bid this project because we understand the importance of improving one of Montreal’s busiest and most vital transportation connectors. We are honoured to be engineering and constructing this important project." 

The $1.2bn contract is part of a larger $3bn scheme, which is the largest in MTQ history. 

As part of the project 145 lane-kilometres of roadways will be designed and constructed, and the Canadian National Railway’s mainline tracks will be relocated. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2020. 

KPH Turcot is made up of many of the partners that delivered the 7.2km Autoroute 25 project in Montreal.
