Intensifying a push for growth in India, UK firm Mace has appointed Pawan Maini as the new country manager there.
For the last 17 years Maini has worked for multinational companies operating in India, including Ramboll, Halcrow, CH2M Hill and IFC.
He replaces Stuart Robinson, who has led Mace’s Indian operations since 2016, and is now returning to a role in Mace’s UK consultancy business.
Mace said it is targeting infrastructure growth in India as part of its new 2022 Business Strategy.
The company employs 180 people in the country, working on projects in Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurgaon and elsewhere for clients such as DLF, Reliance, Piramal and M3M.
Maini has worked on high profile Indian infrastructure projects including Mumbai Airport Terminal 2, the Agra Lucknow Expressway and the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail.
He obtained a degree in civil engineering from IIT Bombay, a masters and doctorate from the US, and an MBA from London Business School.
Jason Millett, Mace’s chief operating officer for consultancy, said: “Pawan has worked on some of India’s most complex projects and programmes, and has first-hand experience of successfully growing multi-national construction and infrastructure businesses in India. His appointment is a huge step for our Indian business and I’m sure he will help lead the team from strength to strength.”
Maini himself said: “Mace has a well-earned reputation as a global consultancy and construction company, and I’m very proud to be appointed as the company’s new country manager. The team here in India are already delivering fantastic projects and exceptional results for their clients – and I’m looking forward to working with them as we plan and deliver the next phase of Mace’s growth.”
