Leighton Asia has entered into an alliance agreement to deliver a major residential scheme comprising 40 towers in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
Revenue to Leighton Asia, which is part of Australia’s CIMIC Group, is approximately $105m (A$140m), the company said today.
The so-called Ten BKC scheme, owned by Radius Developers, is a two-hectare development comprising 937 apartments across 40 towers in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai’s new high-end business district.
Work on Ten BKC began as city planners decided to introduce residential development into the Bandra Kurla Complex, home to big-name multinationals including Facebook and Google, because top-flight executives had nowhere local to live.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Marcelino Fernández Verdes said: "This is the second premium project we have secured in the Bandra Kurla Complex, demonstrating Leighton Asia’s track record in the high-end building sector."
The scope of work includes delivery of structures, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, façade, finishes and external works over a period of 34 months.
Works have commenced and completion is targeted for June 2019. Undertaking the project is Leighton Asia’s subsidiary, Leighton India Contractors.
Radius Developers is pitching Ten BKC as an aspirational address, saying on its website that it "allows you to lead life more auspiciously in the most comfortable manner witnessing the most international level facilities allowing you to feel altered from the blissful living".
Australia’s CIMIC Group is owned by Germany’s Hochtief, which is in turn owned by Spain’s Grupo ACS.
