Dutch maritime contractor Royal Van Oord has been awarded a cable installation contract by Danish power firm Ørsted for the Greater Changhua offshore wind farms in Taiwan.
The installations are between 35km and 60km off the coast of Changhua County on Taiwan’s west side, and will provide power to a million households a year when operational in 2022.
Van Oord will provide 135km of array cables and 145km of export cables for the wind farms, as well as handling transportation, installation and burial.
Van Oord says in a press statement that it will work with Taiwanese engineering service providers and support vessel owners on the project.
Work on the installation will begin in 2021.
