CPB Contractors, a subsidiary of construction group CIMIC, has been selected by Queensland state contractor GoldLinQ to deliver the second phase of the Gold Coast light rail project in east Australia.
The firm will undertake the work on a design-and-build basis.
The Queensland government has announced US$320m funding for this project, which covers design, construction, operations and maintenance through to 2029.
CPB’s exact revenue will not be confirmed until contract execution.
CPB will continue to work with GoldLinQ to refine the tender proposal with final documents expected to be signed next month.
The firm will deliver a 7.3km northern extension from the Gold Coast University Hospital to Helensvale, where it will connect with the first stage of the line.
The extension will provide a seamless connection with heavy rail and public transport for residents and visitors, and will make it possible for commuters to make a one-transfer journey between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Queensland’s two largest cities.

Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2016 and conclude in late 2017.
CIMIC is controlled by Spanish contractor ACS.
