As it builds a $3bn business district in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, state-owned builder China State Construction Engineering (CSCEC) has agreed to train 10,000 Egyptian workers in construction, a report says.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made the announcement after meeting CSCEC’s board of directors in Shanghai, Egyptian news website Egypt Today reported yesterday.
Madbouly is in China representing Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the China International Import Expo 2018, which began today.
In October last year CSCEC signed a contract to build the Central Business District in the ambitious New Administrative Capital, a mega project planned 50km east of Cairo.
The district will include office, residential and hotel buildings, along with Africa’s tallest skyscraper, at 345m in height.
CSCEC chairman Juan King said a meeting would be held in the company prior to sending extra experts to Egypt to train the Egyptian workers, reported Egypt Today.
