Argentina signs $2bn highway PPP with Chinese giant

Through its American subsidiary China Construction America (CCA), the huge state-owned builder China State Construction and Engineering Corp (CSCEC) has signed a public-private partnership (PPP) deal to build a 538-km highway in Argentina.

CCA South America officially sealed the $2.13bn Argentine National Road B Line franchise project along with its joint venture partner Green at the end of July, CCA said.

It is CSCEC’s first project in Argentina, and the first PPP project in Argentina awarded to a Chinese company.

The contract stipulates a period of 15 years, including five years of construction and 10 years of operation by CCA.

The highway project passes through the provinces of Buenos Aires and La Pampa, two important industrial and agricultural economic zones in the country.
