Designs have been unveiled for the Indy Eleven, a 20,000-seat soccer stadium that will become the centrepiece of the $1bn Eleven Park neighbourhood, a mixed-use project in downtown Indianapolis.
Eleven Park is being developed by local real estate company Keystone Group. It will contain 600 dwellings, 205,000 sq ft of office space, 205,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants, as well as a hotel and public squares.
At the heart of the development will be the stadium, designed by sport specialist Populous with Browning Day as architect of record.
The project contains four distinct areas:
- A 2,400-capacity “steep, safe-standing” section at the north end
- The eastern end will have the widest concourse and best concessions and restroom ratios in the league
- A 700-person taproom in the south
- The west end will offer fans “field club” seating at pitch level.
Phil Kolbo, Populous’ principal, said: “A world-class stadium is designed as a true destination, a reflection of its community and a catalyst for growth in the area … the stadium will anchor Eleven Park, providing a home for Indy Eleven that creates new and tailored experiences for Indianapolis fans.”
The ground is due to be completed in 2025 and will create 1,000 jobs.
