Dutch architect MVRDV has won a competition to design the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (Ipai) campus in Heilbronn, south west Germany.
It will have a business space, laboratories, a start-up innovation centre, housing, food areas and a kindergarten.
Buildings will be arranged in a circle with a 1.2km circumference path that links to a running track, slate park and viewing points.
The campus will support firms developing AI technologies.
A central communications tower will contain space for events, exhibitions, conferences, visitors, and training.
Most buildings will be 27m tall and built from bio-material.
A historic Roman path will link the campus from the north to south and an east and west sport and health corridor will cross the project longitudinally.
Much of the natural environment around the development will be left intact, including local forests, orchards and meadows.
The campus, which was designed for non-profit the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and the municipality of Heilbronn, will use 80% less energy than another project of its size. It will use energy from wind turbines and solar panels stored using batteries and ground-based heat and cold storage.
