The longest cable-stayed bridge in Africa will be illuminated at night with Philips’ LED lighting, a system that will be able to display up to 16 million colours.
The Mohammed VI Bridge spans the River Bou Regreg and connects the Moroccan capital of Rabat with the city of Salé.
The recently finished project is 950m long, six lanes wide and is hung from two 200m-tall towers by 160 cables.
The use of LEDs is expected to make the lighting 75% more energy efficient than it would have been with conventional bulbs.
The bridge was financed by the European Investment Bank and the National Company of Motorways in Morocco.
