China’s Mad Architects has designed The Star, a circular office building located at 6061 Sunset Boulevard in central Hollywood.
The 22-storey structure, inspired by the Hollywood Hills to its north, aims to offer an office filled with internal and external greenery, as well as a funicular cable car to transport visitors to the restaurant and event space on the roof.
There will be sky gardens on the 10th and 17th floors, and an observation deck will offer 360° views of the city. There will also be terraced green spaces at street level that will be open to the public, and in walking distance of the Metro Hollywood and Vine Station.
Ma Yansong, Mad Architects’ founding principal, said: “Hollywood has been a signature center for culture and creativity for a long time. The Star will be the new iconic landmark in Hollywood and continue to nurture the public’s inspiration and creativity.”
Landscape design was created by local studio SALT Landscape Architects.
