London’s Stansted Airport has selected UK contractor Mace to build a £150m arrivals terminal as part of a £600m refurbishment project.
The 39,000 sq m terminal will house larger immigration and baggage areas, retail facilities and a public forecourt.
When complete, Stansted will be the only UK airport with separate arrivals and departures terminals.
Gareth Lewis, Mace Construction’s chief operating officer, said: “The new arrivals terminal will completely transform Stansted and the experiences of the millions of people that arrive at the airport every year.”
Mace will start work as main contractor on the project in spring 2019. The arrivals terminal is due to be completed in autumn 2020.
Mace has recently ventured into Singapore and India, and has won contracts in Vietnam and South Africa.
