Cimic Group company Leighton Asia has acquired Malaysia-headquartered Maverick United Consulting Engineers for an undisclosed sum.

Maverick specialises in designing data centres, an expanding sector Leighton Asia is targeting.

“The combination of Maverick and Leighton Asia will allow us to provide a wider range of services and solutions that our clients are looking for in Asia, at a time when the region is expected to be the fastest growing data centre market,” said Cimic Group executive chairman Juan Santamaria.

Leighton Asia is also targeting other high-technology projects like semiconductor and clean room production facilities.

Leighton Asia managing director Brad Davey said: “With Maverick joining our team, Leighton Asia’s early contractor involvement capabilities will be enhanced, providing a strong advantage for our clients to work with Leighton Asia while design development is in the early stages.”
