Korean engineer SsangYong Engineering and Construction has won a $310bn deal to build a landmark multi-tower project in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, it was announced yesterday (10 September).
The project will consist of three towers of 79, 49 and 29 storeys, joined by air bridges, and located next to the Petronas Towers (pictured).
The tallest of the three will house 590 serviced apartments above a 207-room hotel for French group Sofitel So.
The second tallest block will contain a hotel by Dubai-based hospitality group Jumeirah, located above 267 serviced apartments.
The third tower will contain two floors of offices for Singapore developer, Oxley.
The design was by the Veritas Design Group of Kuala Lumpur. Veritas commented that the concept for the towers and façade was inspired by the Malaysia’s intricately patterned songket weaving, and that the development will come with a 25,000 sq ft public plaza.
SsangYong E&C beat a number of other contenders to the prize, including a Chinese team.
