Exterior construction has been completed on Renzo Piano’s 45,000 sq ft glass-and-concrete sphere for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile.
The extension’s facade uses glass made by French company Saint-Gobain in Steyr, Austria, and contains the 1,000-capacity David Geffen Theatre, which will host previews and openings as well as live performances, lectures and panel discussions.

The 288-seat Ted Mann Theatre will host smaller-scale events, such as children’s matinees and global cinema series.
The full 300,000 sq ft Academy Museum is located in the May Company Building, now known as the Saban Building, which has 50,000 sq ft of exhibition space across six floors.
