India’s Larsen & Toubro has won a $473m contract to build electric power substations in Qatar – its single largest order in the power transmission sector.
The contract was awarded by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation and includes the supply, construction and commissioning of 18 extra high voltage (EHV) substations and 151km of EHV cabling in the country.

L&T senior executive vice president (Infrastructure & Construction), SN Subrahmanyan, said: “This order, won against stiff global competition reconfirms L&T’s leadership position in this sector at GCC. It also aligns well with L&T’s expansion plans in the international arena.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in 22 months.
