US contractor Hensel Phelps has been chosen as construction manager for a 17-gate terminal at San Antonio International Airport.

The company will subcontract 85% of the work on the $1bn contract, which will also involve an elevated roadway and a multi-storey ground transportation centre.

When complete in the middle of 2028, the terminal will support 45 domestic and eight international routes.

Erik Walsh, San Antonio’s city manager, said: “Hensel Phelps is the nation’s largest aviation contractor and has developed some of the best terminal projects in the country. They will work closely with our master architect team of Corgan and Lake Flato to advance the design of the terminal.”
