A team led by Danish consultants Henning Larsen and Ramboll will masterplan the street level of Singapore’s 22km North-South Corridor.
The project, which will remodel a congested transport route, will contain four sections: a 6km community and industrial segment, a 7km ecological loop, a 5km people’s wellness corridor, and a 3.5km stretch of culture and heritage.
Neighbourhoods will be connected to the corridor via green spaces, existing parks and cycling and walking paths.
A public square will be located along Rochor Road, at an intersection of three neighbourhoods: Little India, Kampong Gelam and Albert Street.
Leonard Ng, Henning Larsen’s director in Singapore, said: “We’re not just redesigning a road: we’re crafting a living, breathing space that will become a blueprint for future mobility and urban living, one that can inspire similar transformations in cities across the world.
“Together with the community, we are building a corridor that will grow and adapt with Singapore, ensuring our city remains resilient, inclusive, and vibrant for generations to come.”
The Danish firms are working with Camphora, Cistri, Gehl and Participate in Design on the masterplan, which is due to be completed in 2026.
