Italian-American manufacturer Case Construction Equipment has revealed a one-off, special edition skid steer with a design inspired by Metallica frontman James Hetfield.

Showcased at bauma 2025, the compact loader is emblazoned with a winged skull, referencing one of Hetfield’s tattoos, and the words “Hetfield Case” in Metallica’s iconic font.

The pinstriping effect comes from a design found in Hetfield’s private hotrod collection, with a camouflage pattern reminiscent of Hetfield’s signature Snakebyte guitar.

In 2024, Case Construction Equipment presented Hetfield with another signature loader at a concert organised by Metallica’s All Within My Hands charitable foundation.

Hetfield commissioned the design as part of an equipment supply agreement with the company.

David Wilkie, Case Construction Equipment’s head of industrial design, said: “Our remarkable team transformed this special edition skid steer loader from a designer’s sketch into a one-of-a-kind machine.

“This special edition truly captures Case’s rock spirit and attitude, like the sound of the Metallica front man’s guitar solos.”
