German construction consultant Drees & Sommer has acquired US project and cost consultant VVA in a bid to expand in North America.
Stuttgart-registered Drees & Sommer employs some 6,500 people in 63 offices worldwide, and wants to expand.
Recently-won work includes project managing a new €600m diagnostics kit production facility for Roche in Penzberg, Upper Bavaria, and redeveloping a campus at Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg.
VVA was founded in New York City in 1994. It employs around 100 staff in 12 offices around the US and one in the UK.
Its projects include helping Sony and Allianz Global Invest set up US headquarters in New York.
Its new name is “VVA – Part of Drees & Sommer”.
VVA founder and managing director, Lorenzo Vascotto, said: “Due to the partnership structure of both companies, there are many similarities in corporate culture and philosophy. Our shared vision is to further develop the North American market with a focus on real estate and industry, and to support larger projects.”
Drees & Sommer partner Kenneth Wood said the acquisition was “another step in our strategy to become an international company”.
“We are confident that this collaboration will drive innovation, enhance our service portfolio for both sides and deliver value for our customers across all markets,” he said.
