Luxury hotel operator Dorchester Collection has opened a hotel and residential tower in Dubai designed by UK architect Foster + Partners.
The Lana Hotel and the Lana Residences are located by the Marasi Marina between downtown Dubai and the Dubai Design District.
The 31-storey hotel and the 30-storey residential towers are linked structures, and the both are lifted off the ground to create a landscaped public space in the middle of the site.
Other amenities include a garden on the 23rd floor and a sky garden on the roof, which contains an infinity pool.
There are also seven vertical gardens in the development and a waterfront garden is arranged around the perimeter, complete with shops, restaurants and cafés.
Gerard Evenden, Foster + Partners’ head of studio, said: “The idea behind the design was to create a building that responds to its surroundings with a unique sense of place derived from its interlocking gardens.
“The fluidity of spaces and the relationship to the waterfront was key and the social focus of the building is the new public realm at ground level.”
The developer of the project was local real estate company Omniyat.
