Finnish engineer Pöyry has been awarded a deal to oversee the design and build of a massive steam power plant in Saudi Arabia.
Awarded by the Saudi Electricity Company, the contract is worth $52.7m and will last approximately 60 months.
Pöyry will provide the owner’s engineer services to the project, which involves Hyundai Heavy Industries building a $3.3bn oil-fired plant in Shuqaiq.

Once complete the plant will generate 2,640MW of power through four oil-fired boilers, generating 660MW each, helping to meet the Kingdom’s growing energy demand.
Completion is planned for 2017.
