Ferrovial’s Webber wins $70m Houston road job

Ferrovial, via its US subsidiary Webber, has been selected by the Texas Department of Transportation for the expansion and rehabilitation of the FM 1960 farm-to-market road in Harris County, northern Houston for $70m.

In the project due to finish in late 2023, Webber will widen this principal arterial road from four to six lanes with a total project length of 2.84 miles.

It will also build a four-lane overpass bridge over West Lake Houston Parkway.

In all, the project involves some 170,000 square yards of concrete pavement, 165,000 square feet of bridge deck and 2.59 million pounds of steel tub girders.

The US is Ferrovial’s main market by revenue.

In 2020, Webber was also awarded the upgrade of IH 35 in Laredo, Texas, worth $115m, and the construction of the SL12 highway in Dallas worth $301m.
