Webber, the US subsidiary of Spanish infrastructure group Ferrovial, has won an $84m contract from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for road works in San Patricio County, Texas.
Construction on the project includes building direct connectors at the intersection of I-37 and US 77 and adding auxiliary lanes to raise road capacity in of the event of a hurricane or other emergency evacuation.
Work on the project also includes the demolition and construction of bridges over the Nueces River, I-37 North and a frontage road overpass and upgrades to existing main lines.
Jose Carlos Esteban, Webber’s president, said: "We are proud to have been selected to work with TxDOT on this vital project, which is located on one of the state’s hurricane evacuation routes.
"These improvements will help keep the city of Corpus Christi moving safely and efficiently."
Construction is due to begin in September 2021 and be completed by March 2027.
