Dubai’s largest property firm, Emaar, has launched a $3bn development in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
Covering an area of 541,000 sq m, "Erbil Downtown" will include new twin towers, luxury residential apartments, hotels and a shopping centre. It will be located between the Citadel of Erbil and the modern Erbil International Airport.

Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Alabbar said it will be "carefully integrated" and will "bring unprecedented lifestyle choices to residents".
The development is due to be completed in three stages over five years, or potentially sooner if market conditions are favorable, Mr Alabbar told Reuters.
