A consortium led by France’s Eiffage has signed a €51m design-build contract to build an institute of biology and pathology at the Bordeaux University Hospital Centre site in Pessac.
The five storey, 16,460 sq m project will be based at the Haut-Lévêque site, linking the logistics hub in the north with the cardiology building and care buildings to the south.
It will contain laboratories, offices and storage facilities built around a central patio area.
The development has been through a BIM process with a focus on environmental and energy performance, connected to the hospital centre’s heat and cold networks and creating an intelligent consumption management system.
Low-carbon concrete will be used for internal floors and ceilings to reduce carbon emissions.
The project team includes Celnikier & Grabli Architectes, TLR Architecture, laboratory designer 2B Concept Consulting, engineering consultants Ingerop, SICC and AVLS and electric specialist Cenergia.
Construction is due to begin in September 2025 and will be completed in 2028.
