French group Egis will lead construction of a major new urban district in Kuwait for 400,000 people.

Al Mutlaa City will cover 104 sq km some 38km northwest of Kuwait City, designed for residential, commercial, and light industrial development.

Egis will manage construction logistics, cost, and digital programme management.

The developer is Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare, which is tasked with providing sustainable housing for Kuwaitis.

“The City shall be supported by the private sector through investment in the local market and reach a sustainable business model with an elaborated mix of residential,” said Nasser Khreibat, the authority’s general manager.

Egis is expanding rapidly in the Gulf region.

As GCR reported yesterday, it has been awarded a three-year contract to manage expansion works at 26 Saudi Arabian airports.
