China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) celebrated the completion of the concrete structure of Iconic Tower in the Central Business District of Egypt’s New Administrative Capital last week on 17 June.
Now the tallest tower in Africa, Iconic Tower’s concrete structure is 373.2m while its highest point is 385.8m, CSCEC Egypt said.Â
Consisting of two storeys below ground and 78 above, the tower will have offices and hotels over its 65,000-sq-m area.
CSCEC held a concert and open day on the 52nd floor to mark the occasion, which was attended by Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Asem Al-Jazzar, and other officials.
Construction began in May 2018.
CSCEC won a $3bn contract to deliver a batch of 20 towers for the as-yet-unnamed New Administrative Capital’s central business district in October 2017.
It is scheduled to hand them over to the Egyptian government by 2022.
