French multinational engineer Egis has appointed Aecom senior vice president Dr Hongyu Li to take charge of its business in the Asia-Pacific region, with a remit to expand in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China.
Egis’ regional headquarters is moving from Bangkok to Hong Kong to support the effort.

Li, who obtained a PhD in structural engineering from the University of Edinburgh, will also seek to expand the company’s presence in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, focussing on buildings, transportation and operation and maintenance.
She has extensive experience in Hong Kong and Mainland China working with Aecom and, before that, Hyder Consulting, WSP and Meinhardt, according to her Linkedin profile.

Egis said the Asia-Pacific region generates turnover of around €100m and employs nearly 900 people in a dozen countries and territories. It has set itself a five-year target of significant increases in turnover and profit there.
Li was with Aecom for 13.5 years. As senior vice president she built up its building engineering business in China and Southeast Asia into a multi-disciplinary and high-performance business unit with high growth and profitability, Egis said.
