Construction has begun on China’s first privately funded test facility for drones, light aircraft and flying cars.
The plant, which is located in Chongzhou, Sichuan Province, will assess engines for thrust, durability and safety, according to Xinhua.
The plant, which is being developed by aerospace company ZhongFaTianXi, will also manufacture engines.
Liu Chen, ZhongFaTianXin’s chairman, said: “This facility is 100% domestically designed and controlled, with performance reaching international standards.”
It is due to be completed in 2027. It is part of Chongzhou’s aim of building a “Sky City” where manufacturing, testing and urban air transportation are integrated.
