Canada consulting engineer Stantec has acquired UK rival Hydrock for an undisclosed sum.
The deal will boost Stantec’s UK workforce by over 30% and increase its capacity in the building and civil engineering sectors.
Hydrock, founded in Bristol in 1995, is a 950-person company with 22 offices. It focuses on civil, structural and MEP engineering, and works in the transport, energy, environmental and geotechnical sectors.
Cath Schefer, Stantec’s executive vice president, said: “The coming together of Stantec and Hydrock is an ambitious and compatible evolution for both our firms in the UK. Hydrock provides us with a highly complementary line of services and expertise which only reinforces our UK offering.
“Our combined experience, knowledge, and creativity, as well as our shared commitment to create better, more livable places for people and communities, puts us in an exceptional position to deliver meaningful value for our industry-leading clients.”
So far in 2024, Stantec has acquired German engineer Zetcon and Canadian professional services firm Morrison Hershfield. It now has 30,000 employees working in 450 offices.
