Chilean and Argentinean binational entity, EBITAN, is inviting companies to express interest in the construction of a tunnel under the Andes to link the two countries.
The Agua Negra tunnel project involves the construction of two tunnels, 13.9km long each, which will cross the Andes to unite the province of San Juan in Argentina and the Region of Coquimbo in Chile.
The location of proposed tunnels within the central belt of both countries was considered a high-priority investment because of potential traffic flows.

Argentina will finance the construction and the Republic of Chile will use future tolls to pay for its portion.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 4 October 2013 and the necessary documentation and further information can be found on the EBITAN website.
