Buro Happold’s New York office is providing structural engineering services for a distinctive, 49-storey, mixed-use development in Vancouver, Canada.
Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Vancouver-based engineering firm DIALOG, the Beach and Howe Tower recently received a 2012 World Architecture News Award.
The building will be a 600-unit residential tower atop a nine-storey podium providing 60,600 sq m of residential, retail and commercial space.
Its top heavy massing maximises square footage on a small, 557 sq m city plot.
Buro Happold says its design strategy will addresses both the complex geometry of the structure and seismic concerns.
