French construction group Bouygues has agreed to buy the privately-owned Australian construction company AW Edwards.
Bouygues Batiment International, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, will purchase all shares in the company and will retain the AW Edwards brand name, Bouygues said yesterday.
Neither company disclosed financial details of the transaction, which Bouygues said would be finalised over the course of the summer.
Sydney-based AW Edwards is an entirely family-owned business; founded in 1921, it is presently run by the grandchildren of the founder.
The company works in the commercial, residential and industrial sectors, with a particular strength in healthcare. It had a turnover of US$210m in 2017.
